I've had a lot of people reach out to ask if I'm fighting again. I'll be honest, I'd love to fight again but I won't. I don't love using the term "fight" when no punches are exchanged but at the same time, it will definitely be a battle, come Saturday night. My opponent is very talented. Here's some of his merits:
IBJJF Masters World Champion (3x medalist)
2x IBJJF Nogi World Champion (4x medalist)
3x IBJJF Pan-Am Champion (Gi/Nogi)
5x IBJJF American National Champion
8x SJJIF World Champion (Gi/Nogi)F2W & Five SL Superfight winner
We've competed once before, in the finals of the All Americas, where Richard won by points. We've stayed in contact since and that's the beauty of BJJ (and martial arts in general): You meet some awesome people and you make some great friends. When Richard hit me up and asked if I wanted to do a super fight against him, it wasn't as much about the chance to compete, as it was to raise awareness for our non profit, Liam's Life Foundation. Richard offered to donate his whole purse and I'm obviously doing the same.
Hence, this is a chance to raise awareness for our mission to end drunk driving, our bill AB1713, "Liam's Law", raise some money for the non profit and at the same time, compete on a stage and test ourselves both against each other, as well as testing ourselves.
If you're in the Riverside area, come on out for some submission grappling and MMA!
Thank you Richard and USKO! #rememberLiam #BJJ
